Whakapapa research and family trees..

I have a strong passion for whakapapa and the history of the island. For the last 10 years I have researched the whakapapa of Rakiura and Southland. My main work for whanau is creating printable digital family trees.

While I specialize in the whakapapa of Maori families here on the island I do have records of some connected families and even whakapapa from other iwi. I offer my services to anybody looking to reconnect with their ancestors on Rakiura/Stewart Island and even Southland.

My research into the whakapapa of Rakiura/Stewart Island has led me to various libraries around the country and helped me to become familiar with several of the well known local families. I have created a whakapapa database based on the work of my grandmother who created an extensive tree many years ago. I have digitized this record.

I myself am a descendant of Rakiura/Stewart Island. I am a direct descendant of Rakitamau, the man who the island was named after. I hope to be able to shed some light on your family history, we may even be related!
